Nightmares

Have you ever had a nightmare? Well, most people would say they have. Bad dreams, such as being chased, catching on fire, and drowning, may exhibit a deeper interpretation. They could be a sign that you’re unable to control certain emotions such as anger, jealousy, or resentment, that it is related to events happening in your current life.

There was a time when I was underprepared for an important test. Not only was I late to school, but I was nauseous from anxiety. That night, I had the scariest nightmare where there were hyenas outside my house, killing people. The hyenas were tall as a third-grade student. I stared in horror, I found a bloody body that was ripped into shreds by the hyenas. The body was laid ragged in front of the house, and I quickly closed the door to get away from them. Fortunately, no hyenas were chasing me, but I was petrified. I was close to hyperventilating. I heard people screaming and yelling for help, and the smell of blood was pungent and metallic. Goosebumps crept up my arms as I closed my eyes tightly to wake up from this nightmare.

There are many reasons why people have nightmares. People get nightmares because they are tired or distressed. Sometimes nightmares are triggered by pent-up anxiety or worry and stress. Or they might occur after watching a horror movie. People waking up from a nightmare can be evaluated in various ways, such as a sense of danger in their life or their subconscious trying to convey something important.

Some people believe that nightmares give deeper meanings. For example, catching on fire means you should be aware of a change that could potentially cause problems. Drowning in dreams can be a sign that you’re feeling overwhelmed in some area of your life. If you dream about drawing, you might want to take a step back from your responsibilities and give yourself some time to decompress. The idea that nightmares have a deeper meaning, such as signaling awareness of a change, is not scientifically proven. However, some people believe in it because the events in their nightmares may have come true or reflected real-life experiences.

People experience nightmares in different ways and these dreams may hold deeper meanings for some. Regardless of whether one believes nightmares carry an underlying message, they often cause stress and fear. Ultimately, I hope bad dreams don’t happen to me or to anyone else, bringing peace to our nights.
