Chameleon: The Most Interesting Creature

Do you know a lot about chameleons? I have never had much interest in them until I found out chameleons are very fascinating creatures. The most interesting part is that chameleons can change its color. Today, I searched for more information about chameleons to get to know them a lot more. 

           I first searched for the food that chameleons eat. They eat locusts, grasshoppers, crickets, mantises, and stick insects. When chameleons eat all these insects, it maintains the ecosystem and the food chain.

           Chameleons live in a variety of habitats from rain forests, lowlands to deserts and semi-deserts, including mountains. It shows that chameleons live in many different places and many of them inhabit trees. Some of them live in grass, bushes, or fallen leaves, and even on dry branches.

           All animals and insects are important and so are chameleons. However, 36 percent of chameleon species are endangered. Now, we can’t encounter some of those chameleon species. The reason for them becoming rare is because of forest clearing, illegal wildlife trade, and climate change.

When humans cut down the woods and clear the forest, chameleons are forced to search for another home. It would be so disappointing for them to lose their home. Likewise, climate change is a serious problem for chameleons as well for the same reasons as clearing of the forests. Not to mention, there are lots of illegal wildlife trade these days.

           Of course, chameleons will get very stressed because of these reasons and many more that are not mentioned. It is unfortunate that all these problems stem from humans. Therefore, we must pay more attention to animals or else they may become extinct.
